A hundred years ago, back when I lived in Boulder Colorado, I launched TreeHouse Press with the notion that the poetry I like would be even more appealing wrapped in a creatively designed package. The selection process is unscientific and moody. I like to discover my poets, and then figure out how to fund the project.
TreeHouse Press does not accept unsolicited manuscripts, although
the Broadside Contest violates that principle. Arts grants or individual
patrons fund most of TreeHouse Press projects. The books are usually 48-68
pages, printed in editions of 250-500. Ephemera by its nature is even
more limited.
My background is drawn with broad strokes: BA in
English from the University of Colorado at Boulder, MFA in Writing and Poetics
from Naropa University; worked as a freelance arts writer, graphic designer
and university professor. Currently,
I teach writing at the Brooks Photography
Institute in
Ventura, California.
TreeHouse Press now lives in Ojai, California, just around the corner from Bart's Books, where you can see some of our selections in person. Or click on Authors or Books or Ephemera and take a tour.
